How it works

Guest Wi-Fi is the top of the funnel for guest marketing. Anyone who connects is captured, with consent, into the unified guest profile and becomes reachable in campaigns, workflows and loyalty.

how a Wi-Fi guest is captured
01Welcome

A screen, then in.

A branded welcome screen asks for a minimum of details and the marketing choice, then grants access.

02Profile

Straight to the record.

The details are written to the same guest profile that bookings, loyalty, reviews and payments write to.

03Event

The sign-in fires.

Each sign-in publishes an event, so a first login can start a journey, enrol in loyalty or fill an audience.

When you'd use it

Read this first to understand how a Wi-Fi sign-in becomes a guest record and what happens to it afterwards. The pages that follow cover the welcome screen and sign-in, data capture and consent, returning-guest sessions, and the network layer underneath.

How it behaves

A branded welcome screen intercepts a new device before it reaches the internet and asks the guest for a minimum of details and their marketing choice. On submit the device is granted access and the details are written straight to the guest profile, the same profile that bookings, loyalty, reviews and payments write to.

A returning guest’s device is recognised, so they reconnect without filling anything in again, while the visit is still counted. Each sign-in publishes an event the rest of the platform listens to, which is what lets a first login start a welcome journey, enrol the guest in loyalty, or add them to an audience in real time.

Because the sign-in writes to the same record as every other module, a Wi-Fi guest is indistinguishable downstream from a guest captured any other way, with no export or manual matching. It runs on the wireless equipment the venue already has, and works across every venue in a group, with each site keeping its own branding.

Good to know

  • A guest who does not opt in is still counted as a visit for footfall, but is not added to the marketable list.

  • The opt-in is asked for up front, as the guest connects, rather than buried at the end of the flow.

  • The SNAPguard gateway works alongside the venue’s existing access points, so kit rarely needs replacing.
